The photographs are the church’s own, taken on the day by people who were there. The videos are the messages as they were preached, straight from the church’s YouTube channel, and they appear here about a week after they go up.
What you are looking at
Sunday, the whole church together
Most of what you see here is a Sunday. One service, 09:00 SAST, about two hours, in the Underground Hall at Cityview Shopping Centre in Greyville. The choir leads, the children go out to Sunday school partway through, and nobody leaves quickly afterwards; a fair number of these photographs are of the half hour that happens once the service has ended.
Midweek, and the ministries
Wednesday at 18:00 SAST is teaching and prayer, and it looks different: smaller, seated closer, Bibles open. The rest of the grid comes from the ministries that meet around those two gatherings: children, the youth aged 12 to 18, the women, the men, couples, and the compassionate ministries team out in the city.
The rest of the week
Some of what you see was not taken at a gathering at all. The compassionate ministries team works the other five days: visitation, prayer for anyone who asks, evangelism across Greyville and the wider city, and care for the poor and the needy. It is the part of the church a first Sunday will not show you, and for a good number of the people in these photographs it is the main thing they do.
